My end results

In total I looked at 44 Winners of the the years 1998, 2006 ,2014, 2010, 1998. As I picked theses years by random I don't suspect that there is a pattern.
I looked at all the countries of those 44 winners to see where the most awards are given out. It is very clear that america is the winner.
Out of all the cases 22 winners came from america. That is a very impressive number. With a population of 316.1 million people  that might be understandable that they have a lot of winners, but to put it into comparison, Europe has a population of 742.5 million, yet only 9 winners came from Europe. 3 of the winners were from England. 2 Winners came from Africa.The other countries each represented only one winner.
Maybe the Darwin Award is just bigger in america or the Americans tend to die in a funny way instead of natural causes. Who knows?
While doing research for this Blog, I discovered that it is very easy to die, even while doing everyday things.

Award Winners of 1998

I choose to take a look further back in time. I choose 1998. I looked at 11 Award winners, with the most votes.
Of those 11 Winners,

• 6 came from America: California, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Massachusetts, Illinois, Chicago  
• 1 from Canada
• 1 from Australia
• 1 from Indonesia
• 1 from Argentina
• 1 from Texas  

Half of the Winners came from America in 1998. Who knows why this is? Maybe, it's because they have a bigger population than other countries, or maybe they are just very good at dying accidentally in a very funny way. For example, two guys from California decided to go up Mammoth Mountain at 3 am in the morning, walking past the Ski lifts they noticed the Orange padding that is around the posts of the ski lifts, they realized that they didn't want to walk back down so instead they took the padding and carried it up to the top, to slide down on it. What a great idea. Half way down they lost control of their self made sledge and drove directly into the post they took the padding off. Guys the padding was there for a reason.

Award winners of 2006

In the year of 2006 i picked out 11 winners with the most votes.

• 3 cases have been reported in England, leicester, Nottingham and Sunderland 
• 3 cases in Florida 
• 1 case in brazil
• 1 in Ohio 
• 1 in Belize (North America) 
• 1 in Vietnam and 
• 1 in Singapore 

One case stood out to me especially. A student in the Hua Business School in Nottingham was playing his imaginary guitar while jumping up and down his bed, he was so enthusiastic about it that he fell out of the window. 

Award winners of 2014

I will focus the last couple of years and pick the nomination with the most votes.
In 2014  I picked 12 looked at their story and the location the accident occurred in.

From the 12 cases of 2014:

• 5 cases occurred in America,
• 4 cases in Europe,
• 1 case in Africa and
• 2 cases in Asia

When I was reading through the Award winners there was one story that particularly stood out to me.

In Kenya on the 24th of April, two guys decided to they would like to take a selfie with a wild elephant, while getting in the right position the two men put their hands on the elephants face. The animal decided his picture face wasn't quit ready yet and trampled the two men to death. When they were on the floor the elephant proceeded to cover them up nicely with brushes. That's the least he could do after walking all over them.
